"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)
Sunday, February 12, 2023 - Day 43 - (Today’s Bible readings: Isaiah 54:1-17; Psalm 40; John 18:19-40)
WHAT IS TRUTH?
37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” (John 18:37-38 ESV)
So much of what the advertising world values never lives up to the hype. In fact, in many of areas of life, it is difficult to identify what is true - especially when it comes to what is reported as news these days. Jesus is just the opposite. Earlier in John’s Gospel, Jesus reminded us that He the way, the truth and the life. It is so comforting to know that you can trust everything Jesus says and does on your behalf! May the Lord bless you as you trust in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord.
1. I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus, Trusting only Thee;
Trusting Thee for full salvation, Great and free.
2. I am trusting Thee for pardon; At Thy feet I bow,
For Thy grace and tender mercy Trusting now.
3. I am trusting Thee for cleansing In the crimson flood;
Trusting Thee to make me holy By Thy blood.
4. I am trusting Thee to guide me; Thou alone shalt lead,
Ev'ry day and hour supplying All my need.
5. I am trusting Thee for power; Thine can never fail.
Words which Thou Thyself shalt give me Must prevail.
6. I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus, Never let me fall.
I am trusting Thee forever And for all.
(“I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,” Lutheran Service Book #729)
“See” you at the Communion rail this morning!
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the One that I can truly trust and believe in. Please us me to share this truth with others so they too can know the truth about You. Amen.
