Day 57 - (Today’s Bible readings 1 Samuel 2:26; Psalm 55; Colossians 2:16-23)
LET ME HELP YOU WITH THAT - Jesus
Cast your burden on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)
What kind of burdens are you facing today? Heavy lifting can be very taxing. We all need help dealing with life’s challenges, especially the ones that make us feel like we are about to be crushed.
The Psalmist encourages us to cast those burdens on the Lord. He promises to help us in those times. The poplar poem captures the essences of this promise with this response to the frustration of feeling alone and abandoned.
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.
The hymn writer also echos the divine burden bearing promise.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our Refuge -
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
(“What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” LSB 770)
Lord, please bless me and carry me through the challenges I will face today. Thank you so much for taking care of the burden of my sins on the cross. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.
“See” you in church tomorrow morning!
