Sunday, February 5, 2023 - GLORY AND MAJESTY VIA THE CROSS

"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)

Sunday, February 5, 2023 - Day 36 - (Today’s Bible readings: Isaiah 49:1-7; Psalm 34; John 14:15-31)

GLORY AND MAJESTY VIA THE CROSS

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 24-25 ESV)

The cross pictured today is the reason that Jesus deserves glory, majesty, dominion and authority. It was on the cross that Jesus made it possible for you to be forgiven and declared blameless. Because of what your Savior has done for you, He deserves your faithfulness, obedience and praise.

  Majesty, worship His majesty
Unto Jesus, be all glory, honor and praise.
  Majesty, Kingdom authority
  Flows from His throne
Unto His own, His anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the Name of Jesus
Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King.
  Majesty, worship His majesty.
  Jesus who died, now glorified
  King of all kings.

Lord, You have done it all for me by dying on the cross in my place. I want to live the rest of my serving You and worshiping Your majesty. Amen.

“See” you at the Communion rail this morning!

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The “assigned” daily readings will appear on a daily basis in this blog. May the Lord bless your meditation upon His precious life-giving Word!
