Tuesday, July 09, 2024 - ARE YOU WALKING WITH JESUS?

"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)

Tuesday, July 09, 2024 - Day 191 (Through the Bible in a year readings for today: Psalm 1-3; Acts 16:1-15)

ARE YOU WALKING WITH JESUS?

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalm 1  ESV)

Those who walk with Jesus, that is, those who are trusting in Jesus for forgiveness, will, in God’s perfect time, reach the ultimate destination of heaven. Until we get there...

   Let us ever walk with Jesus,
   Follow His example pure,
   Through the world that would deceive us
   And to sin our spirits lure.
   Onward in His footsteps treading,
   Pilgrims here, our home above,
   Full of faith and hope and love,
   Let us do the Father's bidding.
   Faithful Lord, with me abide;
   I shall follow where You guide.
   (Lutheran Service Book, CPH 2006, #685 stanza 1)

Heavenly Father, may the Holy Spirit lead me in Your ways, so that I may ever walk with Jesus along the paths you have planned for me on this earth until that glorious day when I reach my eternal destination in heaven. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.
