"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)
Sunday, September 1, 2024 - Day 245 (Through the Bible in a year readings for today: Psalm 148-150 1 Cor. 11:16-34)
PRAISE THE LORD
“Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150 ESV)
There is so much in life that can leave you feeling flat, blue, or even despondent. Most of the time those feelings can come from our own personal failings. The antidote is to simply remember all that God has done for you and all that He has graciously given to you. And when you remember, you get to repeat David’s words of praise directed to the One from whom has from ALL blessings flow.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
(Lutheran Service Book #805)
Heavenly Father, I praise You for all that You have blessed me with. Above all, I praise You for sending Your Son to be my Savior. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.
“See” you at the Communion rail this morning!
