November 22, 2020 - CONSOLED AND EQUIPPED

Day 327 - (Today’s Bible readings: Nehemiah 3; Psalm 119:129-136; 1 John 5:13-21)

CONSOLED AND EQUIPPED

Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.” And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. (Nehemiah 2:17-19 ESV)

“The Word moves Nehemiah’s heart to begin plans for rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls. As you read God’s Word, recognized that He will move you as well to serve Him and His people. Studying the Word is never an end in itself, because the purpose of the Word is to console you in Christ and equip you by the Holy Spirit.

Console and equip me this day, dear Savior, to overcome all obstacles to Your good and gracious will.  Amen.” (Lutheran Study Bible, CPH 2009, page 742)
