Day 27 (Through the Bible in a year readings for today: Exodus 13-15; Matthew 19:1-15)
LORD HAVE MERCY
Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14 ESV)
With the recent change in Washington D.C. the lives of innocent babies are in even more peril than they were before. LORD, HAVE MERCY!
The Lord has answered this prayer in part by allowing many of us to "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” (Proverbs 31:8-9 NIV) This January marks the 28th anniversary of A Place of Refuge, where we have had the privilege of helping mothers in need choose life for their babies. What a joy to hold little ones in my arms who are here because God’s people cared enough to be there for their mothers!
Jesus gave us this precious example to follow: Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14 ESV)
Lord, have mercy, and change the hearts of those who would end the lives of innocent babies in the womb. Also change the hearts of those for whom the last 48 years have left them apathetic to the needs of mothers facing difficult choices. Move us all to support and encourage them with Your love and mercy. Amen.
