Monday, November 29, 2021 - EYE WITNESSES

Day 333 (Through the Bible in a year readings for today: Ezekiel 41,42; 2 Peter 1)
EYE WITNESSES

“For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.” (2 Peter 1:16 ESV)

Peter is referring to the fact that what he and the other apostles recorded about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus were facts. This means that Christianity is not the product of man’s imagination, not merely a series of myths. They were reporting what they saw with their own eyes.

While we are not eye witnesses of Jesus’ 33 years on this earth, we are “faith witnesses” of the truths of Christianity. We see Jesus clearly through eyes of faith.

During these weeks before Christmas that the Church calls Advent, we are reminded of the imminent end of this world. Our job in these “end times” is be witnesses of Christ’s love and mercy, of all that we have seen through the eyes of faith.

Heavenly Father, thank You for opening my eyes to see Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Remind me of His presence in my daily life, especially when I am faced with challenges and difficulties in these last days. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.
