Saturday, January 8, 2022 - THE Place of Refuge

Day 8 - (Today’s Bible readings: Judges 15; Psalm 7; Acts 17:22-34)

THE PLACE OF REFUGE

“O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.” (Psalm 7:1 ESV)

If you know me, you know that A Place of Refuge, our area LCMS ministry to pregnant women in need, is a very big part of my life. While having a place of refuge from the atrocity of abortion is a very crucial and precious gift from God, APOR is not THE place of refuge. Jesus is!

“O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.”

When life gets rough, Jesus is there for you with His gifts of forgiveness, peace and power.

1. Jesus refuge of the weary,
    Blest Redeemer whom we love,
    Fountain in life’s desert dreary,
    Savior from the world above:
    Often have Your eyes, offended,
    Gazed upon the sinner’s fall;
    Yet upon the cross extended,
    You have borne the pain of all.

2. Do we pass the cross unheeding,
    Breathing no repentant vow,
    Though we see You wounded, bleeding,
    See Your thorn encircled brow?
    Yet Your sinless death has brought us
    Life eternal, peace, and rest;
    Only what Your grace has taught us
    Calms the sinners deep distress.

3. Jesus, may our hearts be burning
    With more fervent love for You;
    May our eyes be ever turning
    To behold Your cross anew
    Till in glory, parted never
    From the blessed Savior’s side,
    Graven in our hearts forever,
    Dwell the cross, the Crucified.
     (“Jesus, Refuge of the Weary,” Lutheran Service Book  #423)

Lord Jesus, may my refuge from sin, death and the devil ever be in You. Amen.

“See’ you in church tomorrow!
