Tuesday, January 11, 2022 - DON’T FORGET US, O GOD

Day 11 - (Today’s Bible readings: Joshua 17; Psalm 10; Acts 19:1-10)

DON’T FORGET US, O GOD

There are times when the challenges and disappoints of the day can make a person feel as if God has forgotten them and that their faith is being tested. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. Someone has tried to explain what is really going on this way:

“When you are going through difficulty and wonder where GOD is,
remember that the teacher is always quiet during the test.”

King David put it this way:
“Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
    forget not the afflicted.” (Psalm 10:12 ESV)
Jesus put it this way:
“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

In this liturgy we respond this way:
Lord have mercy!
Christ have mercy!
Lord has mercy!

Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.
Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.
(“Jesus, Remember Me,” Lutheran Service Book #766)

Lord God thank You for not forgetting me and for having mercy on me. May I ever take comfort in Your gifts of the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pastor David Paape
