Monday, April 10, 2023 - Day 100 - (Today’s Bible readings: 2 Chronicles 21; Psalm 90; Luke 10:13–24)
The Truth Simply Revealed
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.” (Luke 10:21)
Jesus speaks these words in response to the return of the 72 He had sent out to prepare the way for His visit. They come back ecstatic over the success they had been granted in connecting with people. To which Jesus responded: “Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20) The next line is fitting for us on this Monday after our exuberant celebration of Christ’s resurrection.

The most important victory in the entire history of the world took place when Jesus rose from the dead. We take this in with the faith of a child, simply believing that Jesus died and rose for our salvation. The hymn writer captures our response in this way:
1. Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark how the heav'nly anthem drowns
All music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
2. Crown Him the virgin's Son,
The God incarnate born,
Whose arm those crimson trophies won
Which now His brow adorn;
Fruit of the mystic rose,
Yet of that rose the stem,
The root whence mercy ever flows,
The babe of Bethlehem.
3. Crown Him the Lord of Love,
Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends their wond'ring eyes
At mysteries so bright.
4. Crown Him the Lord of Life,
Who triumphed o'er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring
And lives that death may die.
5. Crown Him the Lord of heav'n,
Enthroned in worlds above,
Crown Him the King to whom is giv'n
The wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns
As thrones before him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns,
For He is King of all.

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Your plan for my salvation in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Spirit, thank You for making me a believer in Jesus, and thereby a child of almighty God. Please use me to share this simple and glorious story with others, so that they too can believe. Amen.
