Friday, June 9, 2023 - WALKING FOR LIFE

"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer

WALKING FOR LIFE

“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14

These words of Jesus remind that Jesus loves children and that He calls on His people to do the same. One of the beautiful ways that we’ve been doing this for decades is A Place of Refuge for pregnant women in need. Today is a day when we especially invite you to join us in this loving work. Today is the day of our annual Life Walk. The proceeds loving given today help fund our one on one ministry to mothers who truly need a helping hand. (The picture is from the 2014 Life Walk held at St. Paul’s - West Allis, where we will be waling again today.)

Other than a small fee that goes to Mighty Cause, all money donated here goes directly to support the work of A Place of Refuge.

Yes, Jesus is calling to help children come to Him. And His motivation is simple:

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world;
Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Lord Jesus, thanking You for loving all the little children of the world. Please us me and all of Your followers to share Your love with children of all ages. Today I especially ask You to shower Your blessings on A Place of Refuge and the Life Walk today. Amen.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Please click this link for the daily reading calendar:
The “assigned” daily readings will appear on a daily basis in this blog. May the Lord bless your meditation upon His precious life-giving Word!
