"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer
Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Day 159 - (Today’s Bible readings: Jeremiah 12:1-4; Psalm 128; Acts 7:35-53)
BLESSED?
“Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.” (Psalm 128:1-2 ESV)
What is the key to blessings in this life? Is it individual effort? Is it victory in the battles of life?
According to David, blessings come to those who fear and trust in God, to those who walk the walk directed by the Lord.
Luther put it this way in his explanation to the First Commandment: “We should fear, love and trust in God above all things.”
This applies to all of us, including tp our leaders.
Our first President, George Washington, did fear and trust in the Lord. That is why he spoke words that serve as excellent advice for all of our leaders.
“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible”
Heavenly Father, please bless our nation, state and community with godly leaders. Above all, I pray that You will keep me close to You through saving faith in Jesus, my Savior. Amen.
