"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer

HOPE IN A CHAOTIC WORLD
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)
The theme for this blog spot is “Hope In A Chaotic World.” Most of us would agree that things are chaotic with the ever changing definitions of what is accepted as right and the civil unrest led by forces bent on chaos. Some would wonder, “where’s the hope?”
The Lord declares that we do have hope and a bright future. We may not know what this means, but He does. “For I know the plans I have for you...”
Our problem is that we are impatient. David advises us to wait patiently.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act... Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” (Psalm 37:5&7 ESV)
Instead of complaining or worrying about the chaos swirling around us today, why not quietly and faithfully wait for Him to carry out His plans to give us a future (our tomorrow and our heaven), and to fill us with a Christ-centered hope.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
No merit of my own I claim
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
(My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less, LSB 575-1)
Dear Holy Spirit, please fill my heart with Christ-centered hope. Amen.
