January 6, 2018 - BONUS DEVOTION for EPIPHANY
Day 6 WALK IN THE LIGHT
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 ESV)
Today is Epiphany, the day we Christians celebrate the coming of the wise men to the house where Jesus was. According to the Bible, the magi (wise men) arrived in Bethlehem when Jesus was somewhere between 41 days and 2 years old. This sheds some new light the account of the wise men.
As interesting as the facts of the coming of the wise men are, the main point is that Jesus came for the gentiles, non-Jews, like most of us. And what are we to do with the coming of Jesus, the light of the world? As John puts, we get to walk in the light that Christ shines into the hearts of repentant sinners.
I want to walk as a child of the light;
I want to follow Jesus.
God set the stars to give light to the world;
The star of my life is Jesus.
Refrain:
In him there is no darkness at all;
The night and the day are both alike.
The Lamb is the light of the city of God.
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being the light of the world who came to enlighten all people with Your love and forgiveness. In response to Your mercy and grace in my life, may I walk in You light today and every day. Amen.
“See” you in church tomorrow!
