August 3, 2018 - JOY - THANKS - HOPE

Day 215 - (Today’s Bible readings: 2018 Numbers 30; Psalm 33; John 11:45-57)

1 Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous!
    Praise befits the upright.
2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;
    make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
3 Sing to him a new song;
    play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

4 For the word of the Lord is upright,
    and all his work is done in faithfulness.
5 He loves righteousness and justice;
    the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;
    he puts the deeps in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
    let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    on those who hope in his steadfast love. (Psalm 33:1-8, 18 ESV)

Almighty God, Creator of all that is, we stand in awe of Your redeeming love for all people proclaimed from the victorious cross of Your Son. Thank You for granting me (DP) a successful surgery.  Please use us today to joyfully share all that You mean to us and all that You have done for us. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
