February 25, 2020 - GOD ACTS FOR US SINNERS
Day 56 - (Today’s Bible readings: Isaiah 63:15-64:12; Psalm 52; Galatians 4:1-20)
GOD ACTS FOR US SINNERS
“From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.” Isaiah 64:4 ESV)
Isaiah’s evaluation of the uniqueness of our God is completely accurate. In two days we will begin our annual Lenten journey to Mt. Calvary. It is there, from His cross of suffering, that Jesus declared “It is finished.” (John 19:30)
● For the believer in Christ, sin, death and the devil were finished, defeated, and crushed once and for all!
● For the believer in Christ, the gates of heaven are now open and waiting.
● For the believer in Christ, reconciliation with God has been accomplished.
What language shall I borrow
To thank Thee, dearest Friend,
For this Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
O make me Thine for ever;
And should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
Outlive my love for Thee. Amen.
(O Sacred Head, Now Wounded, Lutheran Service Book, CPH, 2006, #450 stanza 5)

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
