February 4, 2020 - LOVE ON ANOTHER

Day 35 - (Today’s Bible readings: Isaiah 48:12-22; Psalm 33; John 13:56-14:14)

LOVE ON ANOTHER

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 ESV)

Jesus is calling us to follow His example of sacrificial love. “Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” Jesus put others first by leaving heaven and coming down to earth so that He could die for us. How different would your life be if you practiced that kind of love? How different would the lives of others around you be different if you put their needs ahead of your own?

St. Paul clearly stated God’s demand that we husbands show this kind of love to our wives: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25 ESV) How are doing, guys?

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me so much that You suffered and died in payment for my sins. Please help me to practice Your kind of sacrificial love with those around me by putting their needs ahead of my own.  Amen.
