July 7, 2018 - THE PLACE OF REFUGE

Day 188 - (Today’s Bible readings: Numbers 13:1-25; Psalm 7; John 1:29-42)

“O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.” (Psalm 7:1 ESV)

If you know me, you know that A Place of Refuge, our area LCMS ministry to pregnant women in need, is a big part of my life. While having a place of refuge from the atrocity of abortion is a very crucial and precious gift from God, APOR is not THE place of refuge. Jesus is!

“O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.”

When life gets rough, Jesus is there for you with His gifts of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace.

And where do we find the place of refuge? We find Jesus in His Means of Grace as He comes to us in God’s Word and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. In short, we find Jesus in church.

“See” you in church tomorrow!

Lord Jesus, may my refuge ever be in You. Please bless my visit to Your house tomorrow. Make me ready to hear Your Word and receive You body and blood. Amen.

Pastor David Paape

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings form the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
