Day 348 - (Today’s Bible readings: Joshua 24:19-33; Psalm 135:13-21; Acts 9:19-31)
Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.
For the Lord will vindicate his people
and have compassion on his servants. (Psalm 135:13-14 ESV)
These verses from Psalm 135 are most fitting for the days before Christmas. The reason for our joyous celebration of our Savior’s birth is the fact that the incarnation of Christ has been prompted by God’s enduring compassion for lost and hopeless mankind. We see that compassion in the fact that...
● Jesus was born in a manger,
● lived a perfect and sinless life for 33 years,
● innocently endured the suffering of hell on the cross,
● rose triumphantly three days later,
● and is coming again soon to take all who repent and believe home to heaven.
Lord, thank You for vindicating me and all who repent and believe by the compassionate gift of Your Son that first Christmas. May Your name endure forever, especially in my heart. In Jesus’ compassionate and saving name. Amen.
