March 12, 2018 - PROTECTION AND PROVIDENCE

Day 71 - (Today’s Bible readings: Exodus 2; Psalm 67; Romans 2:1–29)

“2 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. 3 When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. 4 And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. 5 Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it.” (Exodus 2:1-5 ESV)

“Moses, born of believing Hebrew parents (Heb. 11:23), is raised in Pharaoh’s household and ‘instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians’ (Acts 7:27), enjoying the best of two worlds. Although God is not mentioned, He is accomplishing His purposes to redeem Israel. Even when God does not seem to be at work in our lives, we can be certain that His good and gracious will is being done among us.” (The Lutheran Study Bible, Concordia Publishing House, 2009, page 98)

Save us from weak resignation,
To the evils we deplore;
Let the gift of Your salvation
Be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
Serving You whom we adore,
Serving You whom we adore.
(God of Grace and God of Glory, Lutheran Service Book, CPH, #850 stanza 4)

Dear heavenly Father, as You guided Moses and used Him to carry out Your providential plan in his day, please guide me and use me for Your purposes today. In Jesus’ saving name.  Amen.
