March 8, 2018 - BETTER THAN LIFE?

Day 67 - (Today’s Bible readings: Genesis 48; Psalm 63; Matthew 27:57–66)

  Because your steadfast love is better than life,
    my lips will praise you.
  So I will bless you as long as I live;
    in your name I will lift up my hands.   (Psalm 63:3-4 ESV)

The Psalmist David is revealing the most important truth for your life and mine. God loves you, and that means everything. What does the fact that God loves you mean to you?

There is hope for you.
Jesus loves you so much that He died and rose for you.
Jesus’ love for you means that He will never leave you nor forsake you.
You do not need to be afraid because perfect love casts our fear.
You can be filled with great anticipation as you look forward to heaven.

So, the love of God is actually better than anything this life can offer.

        Christ, the life of all the living, Christ, the death of death, our foe,
Christ yourself for me once giving To the darkest depths of woe:
Through Thy suff'ring, death, and merit Life eternal I inherit.
Thousand, thousand thanks shall be, Dearest Jesus, unto Thee.
(“Christ, the Life of All the Living,” Lutheran Service Book #420)

Lord Jesus, thousand, thousand thanks to You for all that You have done for me and all that You mean to me. Amen.

Pastor David Paape
