April 20, 2018 - WHERE IS GOD?

Day 110 - (Today’s Bible readings: Exodus 29:35-30:10; Psalm 101; Mark 6:1–13)

“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!” (1 Kings 8:27 ESV)

“Solomon’s entire prayer (vv.22-53) emphasizes the fact that former sanctuary (the temple) was neither adequate nor stationary. When God’s Spirit dwells within people’s hearts, they become God’s temple in all circumstances of life. Luther: ‘Christians make up the dwelling place of God in the New Testament, where God is no longer confined to cities and buildings.’” (The Lutheran Study Bible, CPH, 2009, page 547)

So, where is God? He is in you, fellow Christian!

“Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV)

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV)

God is dwelling in you. Does your life reflect that fact?

Almighty God, thank You for making me Your temple. Please help to me to live like it. And when I fail, please have mercy on me and grant me Your forgiveness. Amen.
