April 3, 2018 - WATER FROM THE ROCK

Day 93 - (Today’s Bible readings: Exodus 17; Psalm 84; Romans 13:1-14)

“You shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it.... And Moses did so..” (Exodus 17:6 ESV)

The Lord miraculously provided water for His people from a rock. Like all of us, they could not have survived without water. There is another Rock that supplies you with spiritual water without which you could not survive either.

“For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.” (1 Corinthians 10:4 ESV) Jesus is your spiritual rock, your solid ground for this life and the next.

My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
No merit of my own I claim But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.
(My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less, Lutheran Service Book, Concordia Publishing House, 2006, #575)

Thank you Lord Jesus. You are my spiritual Rock. I wholly lean on Your saving name. Please quench my soul with Your forgiveness, peace, and direction .  Amen.

Drink deeply from your spiritual Rock this week!
