Saturday, August 19, 2023 - GOD'S GREAT FAITHFULNESS

"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer

Saturday, August 19, 2023 - Day 231  - (Today’s Bible readings: Lamentations 3:1-24; Psalm 48; Colossians 1:1-14)
GOD’S GREAT FAITHFULNESS

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)

In the middle of his lamentations over the catastrophic results of his people’s rebellion and unfaithfulness, Jeremiah proclaims God’s faithfulness. Remember his words when you face the catastrophes of 21st century life. In spite of your sin...

• God sent His only Son to the cross for your forgiveness.
• His mercy is new for you every morning.
• God’s love for you never ends.

  Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
  Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
  Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
  Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! REFRAIN
  Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
  All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
  Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
  (The Lutheran Service Book, Concordia Publishing House, 2006, # 809)

Lord, I thank You for Your faithfulness in pardoning my sin. Help me to see Your mercies every day, starting today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“See” you in church tomorrow!

Pastor David Paape
