"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)

BOLD ACTION
And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people joined in the covenant. (2 Kings 23:3 ESV)
When Josiah heard the words of the long-lost Book of the Law discovered in the house of the Lord, he initiated reforms that removed false worship. “Such bold action no doubt offended some of his subjects. Today, the Lord may call you to take bold action. Set your heart to serve the Lord and pray for His help to make changes peaceably.” (Lutheran Study Bible, CPH, 2009, page 622)
The greatest change the Lord wants in your life and mine is a humble and contrite heart, the proof of which is a life lived in humble service to almighty God.
1. Let us ever walk with Jesus,
Follow His example pure,
Through the world that would deceive us
And to sin our spirits lure.
Onward in His footsteps treading,
Pilgrims here, our home above,
Full of faith and hope and love,
Let us do the Father's bidding.
Faithful Lord, with me abide;
I shall follow where You guide.
2. Let us suffer here with Jesus,
And with patience bear our cross.
Joy will follow all our sadness;
Where He is, there is no loss,
Though today we sow no laughter,
We shall reap celestial joy;
And discomforts that annoy
Shall give way to mirth here after.
Jesus, here I share Your woe;
Help me there Your joy to know.
3. Let us gladly die with Jesus.
Since by death He conquered death,
He will free us from destruction,
Give to us immortal breath.
Let us mortify all passion
That would lead us into sin;
And the grave that shuts us in
Shall but prove the gate to heaven.
Jesus, here with You I die,
There to live with You on high.
4. Let us also live with Jesus;
He has risen from the dead
That to life we may awaken.
Jesus, You are now our head!
We are Your own living members;
Where You live, there we shall be
In Your presence constantly,
Living there with You forever.
Jesus, let me faithful be,
Life eternal grant to me.
(Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus, LSB 685)
Heavenly Father, please make me faithful like Josiah. To that end, remind me of Your mercy revealed in Christ’s sacrificial death and glorious resurrection by which You have freed me from my sin. May I live my life in daily gratitude and thanksgiving for all that You have done and continually do for me. In Jesus’ saving name. And, as always, THY WILL BE DONE! Amen.
“See” you in church tomorrow morning!
