January 7, 2019 - DON’T LISTEN TO THE NAYSAYERS

Day 7 - (Today’s Bible readings: Judges 14; Psalm 6; Acts 17:10-21)

“Depart from me, all you workers of evil,
    for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
The Lord has heard my plea;
    the Lord accepts my prayer.” (Psalm 6:8-9 ESV)

David calls out his accusers and calls on the Lord in tears. And God answers his prayer.

Too often, people listen to the naysayers of this world. Our culture mocks Christians, and too many wind up giving up.

When you experience ridicule for your faith in Christ, don’t listen to the naysayers. Instead, follow David’s example and stay close to your Jesus!

Almighty God, grant me the strength to refuse to give into the naysayers around me who are trying to pull me away from You. Please hear my prayer and keep me close to You forever. Amen.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Please click this link for the daily reading calendar:
