March 13, 2019 - GOD WANTS US TO WORK

Day 72 - (Today’s Bible readings: 2 Samuel 5:17-6:4, Psalm 68, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18)

“If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10b ESV)

We have all seen individuals standing at the side of the road with signs similar to the one attached here. While we react with some degree of skepticism, the basic message is in line with our verse for today. Work is a godly thing, something God has designed for us  to engage in.

As you perhaps conclude another week of work this Friday, do so knowing that you are operating within the will of God. And remember to do your work to the glory of God and for the good of those around you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of work. Above all, thank You for the work of redemption that Jesus undertook on Calvary’s cross for me. May all that I do bring glory to You in thanksgiving for Jesus’ good work for me.

Pastor David Paape

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
