Day 330 - Zechariah Friday (Chapters 8-14)
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9 ESV)
This magnificent prophecy of the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week is one of the clearest prophecies in the Old Testament. Christ’s fulfillment of these words is found in Matthew 21:1-5; Mark 11:1-10; Luke 19:29-38 and John 12:12-19.
As we prepare to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we proclaim His kingship with these words:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of Sabaoth;
Heav'n and earth are full of Thy glory.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is He, blessed is He,
Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the King of Kings to the cruel cross for me. May the Holy Spirit keep my faith strong so that I am prepared for His Second Coming as my King and Judge. In Christ’s royal name. Amen.
