November 9, 2016 - BLESSED?

Day 314 - Psalms Wednesday (Chapters 128-130)

“Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.”  (Psalm 128:1-2 ESV)

What is the key to blessings in this life? Is it individual effort? Is it victory in the battles of life?

According to David, blessings come to those who fear and trust in God, to those who walk the walk directed by the Lord.

Luther put it this way in his explanation to the First Commandment: “We should fear, love and trust in God above all things.”

This applies to all of us, including the winner of our presidential election.

Our first President, George Washington, did fear and trust in the Lord. That is why he spoke words that serve as excellent advice for our next President, as well as all of our other leaders.

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible”

Heavenly Father, please bless whomever is elected our next President with the wisdom to fear and trust You so that our nation will be blessed. Above all, I pray that You will keep me close to You through saving faith in Jesus, my Savior. Amen.
