November 26, 2016 - FAITHFUL BIBLE STUDY

Day 331 - Acts Saturday (chapters 17-18)

“The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue.  Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.”  (Acts 17:10-11 ESV)

Paul and Silas find their words being cross-checked with Scripture, giving us an example of how we are to read the Bible. The message of Christ’s cross is central to God’s Word. In fact, the death of Jesus on the cross for all sinners of all time is THE MAIN REASON God gave us the Bible in the first place!

May we, like the Bereans, cross-check what we read in God’s Word and receive this
Word of grace “with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things are so.”

The one year Bible reading outline we have been following, (the link is provided below), is a great way to cross-check the Bible. One of the many reasons that I “love”  The Lutheran Study Bible is because each chapter contains at least one Law and Gospel synopsis, tying each chapter to the cross.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and for the constant reminder of Your Son’s cross. Help me to be like the Bereans, eager and hungry for the great blessings You have me in Your precious Word. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.

“See” you in church tomorrow.
