July 12, 2020 - THE LORD KEEPS HIS WORD

Day 194 - (Today’s Bible readings: Jeremiah 33:1-13; Psalm 12; Acts 20:17-38)

THE LORD KEEPS HIS WORD

You, O Lord, will keep them;
    you will guard us from this generation forever. (Psalm 12:7  ESV)

We are so used to people not keeping their word, that it seems hard to believe that we can trust in God to always keep His Word. But as David reminds us, the Lord will keep His Word and watch over His children forever. According to His Word...

● The Lord will always hear your prayers (and answer in ways that are best for you).
● The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you.
● The Lord will forgive you when your repent and confess your sins to Him.
● The Lord will lead and bless you as you listen to His Word.
● The Lord will make your last day on earth your best day as He keeps His promise to grant heaven to any and all who repent and believe.

  1. Thy strong Word did cleave the darkness; At Thy speaking it was done.
For created light we thank Thee, while Thine ordered seasons run.
Alleluia, alleluia!  Praise to Thee who light dost send!
Alleluia, alleluia!  Alleluia without end!

  2. Lo, on those who dwelt in darkness, dark as night and deep as death,
Broke the light of Thy salvation, breathed Thine own life-giving breath.
Alleluia, alleluia!  Praise to Thee who light dost send!
Alleluia, alleluia!  Alleluia without end!

  3. Thy strong Word be-speaks us righteous;   Bright with Thine own holiness,
Glorious now, we press toward glory, And our lives our hopes confess.
Alleluia, alleluia!  Praise to Thee who light dost send!
Alleluia, alleluia!  Alleluia without end!

  4. From the cross Thy wisdom shining breaketh forth in conquering might;
From the cross forever beameth all Thy bright redeeming light,
Alleluia, alleluia!  Praise to Thee who light dost send!
Alleluia, alleluia!  Alleluia without end!
        (“Thy Strong Word,” Lutheran Service Book #578 stanzas1-4)

Thank You, heavenly Father, for the priceless gift of Your Word. May I be well fed with its Christ-centered message today and everyday. Amen.

Pastor David Paape

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
