July 6, 2020 - HOPE IN A CHAOTIC WORLD

July 6, 2020 - Day 188 - (Today’s Bible readings: Jeremiah 30; Psalm 6; Acts 18:1-17)

HOPE IN A CHAOTIC WORLD

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)

The theme for this blog spot is “Hope In A Chaotic World.” Most of us would agree that things are chaotic with the ever-changing caronavirus guidelines and the civil unrest led by forces bent on chaos. Some would wonder, “where’s the hope?”

The Lord declares that we do have hope and a bright future. We may not know what this means, but He does. “For I know the plans I have for you...”

Our problem is that we are impatient. David advises us to wait patiently.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act... Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” (Psalm 37:5&7 ESV)

Instead of complaining or worrying about the chaos swirling around us today, why not  quietly and faithfully wait for Him to carry out His plans to give us a future (our tomorrows and our heaven), and to fill with a Christ-centered hope.

 1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
No merit of my own I claim
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 ), is the theme for this three-year journey through the entire Old Testament once (the Psalms - twice yearly), and the New Testament twice. There will be daily readings from the O.T., Psalms and the N.T. Special days on the church calendar will be highlighted with appropriate readings. This calendar has been compiled by representatives of the Lutheran Church of Canada, the North American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.
