Day 222 - 2 Chronicles Tuesday (chapters 1-4)
“Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Wnoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth....” (2 Chronicles 1:1-4... ESV)
It is a joy to teach little ones this special phrase:
“Here’s the church and here’s the steeple. Open your hands and see all the people.” Today’s devotion is meant to help us get this right, for when you see the people, you are seeing the “Church.”
“Through the families of the earth, the Lord unfolds His plan of salvation, focusing on Abraham, the father of all who believe (Romans 4:16). Just as sin divided and corrupted Adam’s family, it attacks families today. Yet, these genealogies show how the Lord continues to work through families as the faith is preserved and spread from one generation to the next.” (Lutheran Study Bible, Concordia Publishing House, 2009, page 632)
Heavenly Father, bless families today with Your presence, Your peace, and Your power so that they may be enabled to withstand the divisive lies of Satan. Above all, please reach those who are not yet part of Your family, the holy Christian Church, with the saving Gospel. Amen.
