Tuesday, December 5, 2023 - LORD HELP ME TO SEE THE GOOD

"I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen." (Luther's Morning Prayer)

Tuesday, December 5, 2023 - Day 339  - (Today’s Bible readings: Nehemiah 9:16-38; Psalm 126; Revelation 3:13-22)

LORD HELP ME TO SEE THE GOOD

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV)

When I come across people whose circumstances in life are causing them to be depressed, Romans 8:28 is one of my favorite go-to Biblical antidotes. What comfort and encouragement to know that all things work together for good for you simply because you love God!

● You may have concerns about your health, God promises that good will come.
● You may have family difficulties, God promises that good will come.
● You may have doubts about God’s love for you, He still promises that good will come.
● You may have fear about your future, God promises that good will come.

The hard part in all of these circumstances is understanding that God’s good may not always being to your liking. But the fact remains, that whatever your circumstances may be, God promises that He will work them out for your good.

The main thing, according to Paul, is that you love God. And, in spite of life’s challenges, it is not that hard to love the One who sent His one and only Son to die for you in payment for all of your sins. Yes, it is not hard to love God who has mercifully guaranteed you eternity in heaven because of your faith in Jesus. Until them, Paul  reminds you that God has a purpose for your life.

So, since ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD for the children of God, the next time you find yourself down for whatever reason, simply repeat these simple words: LORD, HELP ME TO SEE THE GOOD!

Have no fear, little flock;
Have no fear little flock,
For the Father has chosen
To give you the Kingdom;
Have no fear, little flock!

Have good cheer, little flock;
Have good cheer, little flock,
For the Father will keep you
In His love forever;
Have good cheer, little flock!

Praise the Lord high above;
Praise the Lord high above,
For He stoops down to heal you,
Uplift and restore you;
Praise the Lord high above!

Thankful hearts raise to God;
Thankful hearts raise to God.
For He stays close beside you,
In all things works with you;
Thankful hearts raise to God!
(“Have No Fear, Little Flock,” LSB 735)

Heavenly Father, help me to see Your good in my life. Above all, help me to see Your mercy lavished on me through Jesus Christ, my Savior. Yes Lord, help me to see Your good. Amen.
