Day 162 - Lamentations Friday
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)
In the middle of his lamentations over the catastrophic results of his people’s rebellion and unfaithfulness, Jeremiah proclaims God’s faithfulness. Remember his words when you experience the just consequences of your sin and unfaithfulness. In spite of your sin...
• God’s love for you never ends.
• His mercy on you continues.
• His mercy is new every morning.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! REFRAIN
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
(The Lutheran Service Book, Concordia Publishing House, 2006, # 809)
Lord, I thank You for Your faithfulness in pardoning my sin. Help me to see Your new mercies every day, starting today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
