January 27, 2017 - LETTING THE CHILDREN COME TO JESUS
Day 27 - Exodus 13-15 & Matthew 19:1-15
Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:13-14 ESV)
Today hundreds of thousands will take part in the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. Christians are walking for life “not because it is the moral thing to do, not because it is the right thing to do, but because it is the Christ thing to do.” Rev. James Lamb of Lutherans for Life shared these words in a sermon during the LCMS Life Conference worship service prior to the 2015 March for Life.
LCMS President Matthew Harrison will lead hundreds from our synod who will walk today (wearing green hats) because Jesus wants little children to come to Him. Unfortunately, since 1973, abortion has been legal in our country, preventing little ones from coming to Jesus. So we walk for life today.
Some of us get to walk with them in spirit. (I wish I were there in person.)
Together, we walk for the babies.
We walk for their mothers.
We walk for families.
We walk for our country.
We walk for Jesus!
We walk to share the life-affirming message of God’s love for all people of all ages and backgrounds.
“The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most life-affirming message in the universe.” - Rev. James Lamb
Lord Jesus, thank You for the opportunity Your people have to walk for You and for Your precious gift of life. Please help me to believe and find comfort and direction in the fact that the message of Your dying love for sinners like me is the most life-affirming message in the universe. In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.
