May 26, 2016 - BLESSING AFTER STRUGGLE

Day 147 - Job Thursday (chapters 41-42)

“And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.” (Job 42:12  ESV)

“We often take our blessings in life for granted: our families, our friends, even our possessions.

If they would be taken away, we would undoubtedly be filled with remorse and regret for not valuing them as we ought.

Even when everything is wonderful, we can forget about God’s gracious providence and gift of justice.

The Book of Job returns us to the roots of our existence - our faithful Lord. In the midst of suffering comes the bright light of victory in our Redeemer - Christ.”
(The Lutheran Study Bible, Concordia Publishing House, 2009, page 838)

If thou but trust in God to guide thee
And hope in Him through all thy ways,
He’ll give thee strength, what-e’er betide thee,
And bear thee through the evil days,
Who trusts in God’s unchanging love
Builds on the rock that naught can move.
(The Lutheran Service Book, CPH 2006, #750, stanza 1)

Heavenly Father, thank You for promising to lead me through all of life’s challenges. Strengthen my faith that I may know the peace of Your unchanging love.  In Jesus’ saving name. Amen.

Trust in God to guide you today!
