May 9, 2016 - WITH OR WITHOUT

Day 130 - Exodus Monday (chapters 21-24)

“Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the Lord alone, shall be devoted to destruction.” (Exodus 22:20 ESV)

“Some times you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t. Almond Joy’s got nuts, Mounds don’t.” The question this commercial jingle is posing is simply this, “with or without almonds?”

The question the Bible verse for today posses is far more important than what kind of a candy bar you wish to nibble on. Are you going to honor the Triune God, by trusting in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and the gift of eternal life in heaven, or will you follow another god, a false god, and wind up in hell?

If Christ Jesus is first, you will be guaranteed eternal life.

If you worship any other God, you will be destroyed eternally.

Jesus puts it so clearly in Mark 16:16:
“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

Paul accentuates the “with Jesus” option in Romans 10:13:
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Jesus makes the “with or without” case even more clearly in John 3:18
“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

Of course, this critical comparison is tied into the promise of John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Which will it be for you, with or without Jesus? Which will it be, heaven or hell?

Gracious heavenly Father, through the Gospel’s proclamation that all who believe in Christ will be saved, grant me a life with Jesus now and in eternity. Please use me this week to help others know the crucial importance of living with Jesus now. In His saving name. Amen.
